THE RED RAIN
A moonless storm poisons the sacred marsh. One nameless frog stays behind.
The marsh remembers its last samurai.
Not born red. Not born a warrior. Forged by the night the moon fell into poisoned water.

Long before Akagero carried steel, he was the quietest creature in Mizunashi Marsh. He listened so carefully that he could hear rain deciding where to fall.
Then came a storm with no clouds. Red rain burned the reeds, blackened the lilies, and drove every living thing toward the mountains. Akagero stayed because beneath the oldest torii slept thousands of unborn tadpoles.
“Protect what cannot run.”
A dying ronin tied a straw hat above his eyes and gave him a broken blade. For seven nights the frog absorbed the poison into his own skin. By dawn, the marsh was clear—and he was crimson forever.
His bold ink lines are the scar of that night. His golden eyes hold the two moons he witnessed: one in the sky, one drowning below.

A fallen ronin gives him a broken katana and one final instruction.
Akagero defeats nine versions of the fear inside him.
He remains crimson: a living seal against the darkness below.
